The gopher tortoise is named a ‘keystone’ species because it shares its burrow with numerous other species offering an example of tolerance and diversity in the natural world. The Curious Kids meet Lee County Parks & Recreation Supervisor, Heather Gienapp at Hickey Creek Mitigation park, to learn more about these fascinating animals and discover how humans can cohabit responsibly with them.
