Qadmous was given this name in reference to the Phoenician god Qadmus. The ancient Syrian legend says that Qadmus rode the sea and went searching for his sister Europe, who had been kidnapped by Zeus. He went from Syria to Greece, where he spread the alphabet and science there.
Qadmous is famous for its castle - where we Finished the walking tour - which was a major stronghold for the Assassins more than nine hundred years ago.
