June 1941, German armies invade the USSR. Following them, the Einsatzgruppen, 3,000 men divided into four “intervention groups” each assigned to a defined geographical area, must take care of Jews and opponents of the Reich. In a few months, the genocidal work was accomplished.
In December 1941, the Baltic countries were declared “Judenfrei” – free of Jews…
