Why sponges are different colors and how they differ from each other
Sponges for washing dishes are, probably without exception. Even the happy owners of dishwashers from time to time wipe the dirty dishes manually.
Sponges come in all shapes, sizes and colors. It is clear that everyone has their own preferences on the first two counts, but does the color matter? Because the coloring of the jaws is done just for promotional purposes... or not?
Of course, Yes — if we are talking about soft, the main part of a foam sponge. But the color of the abrasive grain part means, that is, the degree of hardness of the coating.
This material we call Scotch-bright (from the American brand Scotch-Brite). It is made of coarse fibers and bonded to foam base.
Scotch bright on the lips is usually of three colors:
1. Green.
Washing sponges with the green abrasive side is able to deliver even the most stubborn dirt. However, such a hard material can scratch some of the coating. It is recommended not to wash green side pans with non-stick coating, painted glass, enameled ware, etc.
2. Red.
Red indicates a moderate degree of rigidity. This is the best choice: this sponge is easy to remove stubborn dirt and dried-on food, but she doesn't so much scratch the cookware.
3. Yellow.
In yellow color the soft sponge, which is washed, for example, glassware. This material is gently drawn to the surface, so you can RUB intensely.
Now you know what almost no one knows!
