Residents of the national capital got a reprieve from sweltering heat after rains brought down the temperature. The city witnessed heavy downpour that added traffic woes to the commuters. On July 20, between 11.30am and 5.30pm, Safdarjung recorded 52.4mm rainfall, taking the total to 217.1mm this month, which is 6.5mm more than normal for July. Palam recorded heavy rainfall at 92.4mm.
